About Us

Thanks for stopping by! We are Kiri, Paul & Lucia; a young family who love to get outside, go exploring and learn about nature. As an academic family (Paul is a Post Doc research scientist), we have found ourselves recently relocated to Boulder, Colorado for the next couple of years. 

I am originally from Oregon and Paul is from Wisconsin. We met while Paul was doing his PhD at Oregon State University. After four great years together in Oregon, where our daughter Lucia was born, we packed up, drove/camped across the country and relocated to a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. You can read the blog I kept during our time there, here. After not quite two years there, we had the opportunity to come to Boulder, and couldn't be more excited to be closer (somewhat) to family and the mountains. 

I started this blog mostly to share photos and stories with our family, but I think others will find our experiences of getting outside with kids and living the nomadic academic lifestyle interesting or helpful.

You will find trail reports from the perspective of hiking with little kids, reviews of campgrounds we have been to, and posts about daily life, settling in to our new home and hometown!
